Alphabet of Praise: O is for God's Omnipotence

O

O’s for God’s vast Omnipotence.

His power stretches far—

Encompassing the infinite,

Outreaching every star.

Above, broad skies and planets all

Below, sea depths’ compass

Speak of His strength eternally—

 Its reach is unsurpassed.

All sustenance He giveth man;

His origin imprints

The whole creation, though it groans,

His praises do evince.

Foaming and furi’ous floods forthtell,

Vast wonders of the deep—

These all extol our Mighty Lord;

But so doth silence speak.

The wonder of a tiny bud

Upon the tree in spring;

And nanoscopic snowflakes each

Do adoration bring.

Numberless insects, multi-hued

Diverse, in one accord,

In harmonies the earth around--

God’s power all record.

Curs’d souls made new by Christ’s shed blood;

Who love their enemies—

These manifest this potent force,

Show Him abundantly.

Entire homes made pure by love,

And unity, and peace

Speak volumes to the God so great

Whose power does not cease.

Lift up your voice then to this God

His mighty power to praise;

His Spirit can conduct your heart

In never-ceasing lays.

And as you gaze upon this One

With infinite delight,

His glory from you, too, will shine

To brighten this world’s night.

Our God, omnipotent, doth reign

Oe’r all this vast world broad.

Join now in songs of praise to Him:

Omnipotence all laud!
